Writing for Yahoo! Voices

This article was previously published on Expertscolumn under the username jane789

Recently I have been taking another look at Yahoo! Voices. While I love writing for Expertsolumn, I also think it is wise to right for a number of sites as it all helps to grow your profile as a writer and can lead to several steams of income instead of just one.

At one time, Yahoo! Voices used to only be available to residents in the US but a few years ago they established a UK site. I’ve had a few problems with logging in and setting up a profile so I have not been active on the UK site as yet, but once I have this problem resolved, I am looking forward to contributing.

From what I have seen of Yahoo! Voices, I like it so far. Like other sites, they allow you to write along most subjects but they warn against rehashing content from other sources and encourage original content, which is a good thing.

You could write on anything from sports to music. Yahoo! Voices also allows the publishing of short stories and poetry so you contributors can share their creative work on the site too.  Yahoo! Voices offers two types of payments; you can earn from upfront payments or you can earn from page views.

The guidelines for having your work accepted are quite strict and work is reviewed before being accepted and published. I like the stricter guidelines as it ensures the quality of the site stays high and doesn’t allow people to take shortcuts, which can only be a good thing.

Another thing I like about the site is the low pay out level. The site has a low pay out level of just £1.50 for contributors in the UK.  Payments are made via PayPal, so if you do not have a PayPal account you will have to set one up before you can become eligible for payments.

Writing for Expertscolumn

Late last year I joined a writing site called Expertscolumn. I wasn't very active on there to begin with but in the last few months I've made sure to write there every day.

They are honest and helpful, and have been about for a relatively long time. They offer payments via PayPal or Moneybookers and you can cash out once you've reached $5. From my experience, payments are done within a few days.

Unlike some other writing sites, articles on Expertscolumn are highly ranked on Google. I've found several of mine on the first page and this obviously helps with page views: You can read a couple of my articles by following these links:

Music Writers Required

Chorus and Verse are looking for freelance writers who can get artist interviews. Ideally, they want people to do at least one article a month and articles are assigned or you can propose an idea for an interview to the editor.

They are looking for interviews which are between 750-1.250 words and writers must arrange to provide two or more pictures to go with the articles.

This might be better suited for writers in the United States because they pay by cheque which can cost £6.00 to convert in the UK and they don't seem to offer a Pay Pal option.

Rates of Pay

$20 for local bands/musicians

$30 regional, established/touring bands

$50 for national bands and musicians.

Bloggers are also wanted but this is unpaid. If you like the idea of writing a music blog for them then they are looking for album reviews, concert reviews and opinions.

Find them at:

Epinions: Get paid for Reviews

This site has been about for a while now. I remember coming across it years ago when I first started looking on line for writing opportunities.

Epinions want your reviews on just about anything, cars, books, movies, electronics and there's plenty of other categories to choose from.

This site is easier for people from the US to earn from as they can cash out at $10. Anywhere else and you'll have to wait until you reach $100.

Payments are made by cheque and you'll be responsible for declaring any of your extra earnings from this site.

You get Eroyalties added to your account and your income from the site depends on a number of factors. To find out more about this site visit http://www.epinions.com/help/faq/show_~faq_writing
