Freelance Writers and Researchers Required

I've found a website based in the United States and they are looking for freelance writers and researchers.

They pay twice a month via PayPal and payments are made on the 15th and the 30th.

All you need to get started is a computer with an Internet connection and have good basic writing skills. I imagine the articles you write will have to be in American-English if they are to be accepted.

The site will give you the topic they want you to write on and then you complete an article based on that. The pay is $0.025 for each word.

The web address you need for the details is:

Food Writers needed

I found this advertised on a classified ads site today. A new website is launching and they want food writers.

They want your reviews from all over the United Kingdom and you can share which places you like and those that you don't.

At the moment there is no pay being offered but it's a good way of honing your writing skills and building up a profile of work which you'll need if applying for other writing projects.

They add that in the future they hope to develop an incentive scheme or some sort of payment system.

The site also want your articles related to any aspect of food and drink. These articles need to be around 800 words. Reviews need to be in the region of 500.

Blog Writers/storywriters/book reviewers wanted

I've just found a site called Writers Blaze and they want writers for all sorts of work including book reviews, blogging, story writers and software reviews.

If you are interested then you're are invited to submit your application online.

Book Reviewers will get to see their name in print if have they have their work accepted. If you don't write a review then they'll see that you can get to speak to an author and have that published.

If book reviews aren't your thing then you might like to try the story writing option. They are looking for people who work in journalism or are currently studying the subject.

If none of that appeals then why not try the blog posting or the blog promotion? Has a Blog poster they will give you everything you need to get started including the use of a server. If you already have a blog you can use that as a platform. New to blogging? Give their blog promotion option a go where they'll give you the help you'll need to get underway.

Fancy doing software reviews? Writers choose which software they write about and on occasion software is provided for you.

Applicants need to send an e mail with details of their previous work etc. See the details on their site. A link is available further down this post.

Submission guidelines for book reviews are available here.

News Writers Required

The Slant is a topical website based in the UK and they want news related stories. I've worked for a number of news sites before but this is a new one that I've come across so I don't have any experience with it

There is a number of categories you can choose from including arts, business, sports and technology and they ask that articles have a hint of humour

To get started you need to submit your piece with a maximum of 300 words and a minimum of 200.

They state that if you don't hear back within a few days that your work will have been declined.

From what I can tell there is no pay but it's a good way of developing your news writing skills, getting your name out there and building up a profile of work which you can use should you apply to other sites and are asked for samples of work.

John Grisham Ford County

John Grisham released his latest book called Ford County back in October last year. This is the first time he has released a book made up of short stories. All of the stories are set in Ford County, Missippi which was the setting for his debut novel A time to Kill and where Grisham grew up.

I've liked the majority of his previous books but I could take or leave the last few. From the reviews I've seen Ford County sounds pretty good and its different format of being a series of shorts should be interesting.

The book is made up of seven stories and its got largely good reviews on Amazon. After being disappointed with the last few books I'm looking forward to getting my copy of this one.

If you have a review of the book then please let me know.

To see John Grisham reading an excerpt and talking about the book go to the following link and press the Youtube link.
